Dear NEK School District Families,
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful summer and are enjoying these last days before school gets underway. We’re excited for the year ahead and look forward to welcoming our students back!
As school gets started, we wanted to share a few quick reminders.
Vermont’s New Cell Phone Policy:
Vermont has new requirements for student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices during the school day. Schools are now required to have policies limiting the use of these devices from arrival through dismissal, with some exceptions.
Because our NEK Choice students attend many different schools, please be sure to follow the specific cell phone and electronic device policy of your child’s school. Policies and procedures may vary from school to school, including how devices are stored, when they may be used, and how families should contact students during the school day.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact their school office rather than relying on their cell phone.
A Few Other Reminders
● Attendance: Regular attendance and being on time make a big difference. Please follow your child’s school procedures for reporting absences.
● School Calendars: NEK Choice schools have different calendars and schedules. Please refer to your child’s school calendar for important dates throughout the year.
● Contact Information: Please make sure your contact and emergency information is current with your child’s school.
● Stay Connected: Keep an eye on emails and other communications from your child’s school for updates and important information.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We’re looking forward to a wonderful 2026–2027 school year and all that it will bring!
Welcome back, and here’s to a great year!
Warmly,
Elaine Sherry Superintendent Essex-Northeast Supervisory Union (ENSU)
